Hi all can anyone Help — UK Kawasaki Z1000 Owners Forum

    Hi all, can anyone Help?

Been having some intermittent issues with the Z.

Gets to 8k RPM and feels like it's hitting the limiter. Other times it's fine.

Pull into the work car park and sometimes it cuts out but only after the 8k issue has been present and it does a very faint backfire like no petrol getting through. No FI light apart from when it cut out but nothing stored in the ecu either.

Moved the tank to fuel rail pipe slightly and couldn't get it to fail in a quick 5 min ride.

Had to come away for the weekend so haven't had chance to try it again.

Thought I'd order a replacement pipe but they are £86!

Anyone had similar issues? Thought I'd Czech before parting with that much money.

Anyone done a repair using the quick release fasteners and some new pipe?

Sorry for a long winded one and thanks in advance if anyone can help.

(I need to ride it to be sure , but I'll be annoyed if it's the pump/filter and not the pipe lol )

    Changed plugs

well people, had a crap end to last week, finally had the diagnosis that our little boy has severe autism and is being assessed for adhd and sensory issues, so the reality of his problems has hit home in a big way! spent most of the weekend crying which I'm not afraid of admitting, its so fucking unfair for him, he is only 5 and has already been segregated in school, so every waking moment we are with him we are going to give him so much attention and the 1st big thing we are doing with jack is we are taking him to the bike show in November and give him the best time ever.

Test rode some bikes today — UK Kawasaki Z1000 Owners Forum

                        Test rode some bikes today.

Monster 898 ? While Maria tried the Diavel

. Unfortunately they only had the feet forward one which she didn't like though the engine was awesome. The Monster was comfortable but not a patch on our Z's.

Next week tried the MT10. Àwesome bit of kit. Handles sweeter than the Z. Possibly faster. Numptys doing he test ride wouldn't even let us get above 70 on the drag strip. Seat is very similar. Had it been on the market when we got. Our Z's I think we would have bought them. Back to back against ours which we've spent a bit sorting them, our Z's win but only just.

Years review — UK Kawasaki Z1000 Owners Forum

                          Years review.

I feel it's now time to give a review of the Gen 4s after owning mine for just over a year and my wife having her's nearly a year.

We have sorted the suspension and engines. Can't remember the BHP but it's not the 143bhp that Kawasaki originally quoted.

With engine set up, we can now accellerate in top like we were doing in 4th. Everywhere, it is nice and smooth, with no jerky pulling in places.

Suspension still leaves a lot to be desired. Over twistys, it isn't too bad as you move on the seat, but motorways are a nightmare. We bought cycling shorts which certainly help.

Tyres. We are running PR4's and T30's neither of which we can really fault.

I did my 1st ride where I had a chance rto ride by myself over an hour where I was pushing on a bit. The bike and myself will happily cruise over 100mph tank full to empty but obviously, I am not going to risk my licence. The bike handles better than I thought but it is a different style of riding to what I am used to where there is little steering and using only lean, these bikes have to have use of the pegs and countersteering. Saying that, at no point did I have to correct my position or speed as I placed the bike exactly where I wanted it, no matter how blind the bend or contours in the road, mixed with bumps and pot holes.

Averaged just over 50mpg according to the computor.

Tyres are still legal after 6000 on mine and looking good on Maria's on just over 5000 miles.

Power between the 2 bikes is minimal. The dyno graphs pretty much are identical despite me having Akro GP pipes.

I test rode a H2 the other day, which was a fantastic bike and great fun, but the Z is a much better riding position and to be honest, I am glad we have them, as I am not one to change bikes lightly.

Photos from Mark Sherman's post — UK Kawasaki Z1000 Owners Forum

Had a test ride on the 2015 z1 today as my 2005 z1 was in for an mot/service.

Well I can confirm things have defiantly moved on since 2005 !

Fuelling is greatly improved with instant crisp throttle response with induction howl to match, my bike feels a bit laggy in comparison.

The extra 22 hp is noticeable and it punches off well from idle.

Gear change and clutch are a lot smoother no noticeable clunk as with my older bike. Brakes are stunning hauling the bike up rapidly to a stop from speed.

Front suspension almost perfect for me but I found the rear slightly too hard but I think this could be tweaked anyway having said that the handling is a lot more positive than the older bike and the turn in feels quicker, it inspired a lot of confidence in being able to push it without upsetting the balence I felt a bit more involved on the new bike.

Seating and posture position is better and l like the way your knees tuck under the tank a bit more than the older model.

The only thing I found a bit of a pain was the Rev counter which started on the digital display vertically up the side and when you hit 6k it transfers to the led display horizontally I suppose your always above 6k anyway for that induction howl which is a bit addictive !

To sum up my bikes still a great bike I'm not knocking it but the new ones moved on and I think it's for the better , had a great test ride not sure if I'm going to buy one yet due to finances but I would if I could !

Bonus , my bike passed the mot which is a result but on a downer got pulled by the rozzers on the way home and invited to attend a lecture without coffee at my expense lol !

** ZX10 2008 forks are too long and will not work.**

Triples. You can use the 03-04 ZX6R Triples. The Z stem will press right into the ZX6r Triples.

You can use the ZX6R Stem but it is shorter and you can only get one lock nut to work. <--Not recommended

You can not mix the 636 lower triple clamp with the Z upper. The sweep and width is different.

If you use the 636 triples be prepared to have custom wheel spacers machined as the 636 triples will set the forks wider apart.

Mods Required: The '05 636 shock will NOT directly bolt in. The lower legs on the 636 shock are 2mm closer together, and there is a spacer inside the shock linkage which will not fit into it. Need to have 1mm milled out of the inside of each shock leg to get it to bolt in.

Pay attention to which brake set you get. 03-04 Look the same as 05-06 but if 05-06 brakes are used on the 03-04 Forks you will need to add 10mm Spacers on the caliper bolts. And will not work the other way. the 03-04 brakes will not have enough contact on the 05-06 forks set.

Hi what size rear tyre do you have on your SX? Currently I have a 190/55Z R17 Bridgestone, but have just been told by my Kawasaki dealer that it should be a 190/50 R17. Just wondered what you all have & whether you have a z-rated tyre or a w-rated one as the only 190/50s I can find seem to be w-rated. I'd like to put PR3s or PR4s on it ideally. Thanks!

Well, spent 5 hrs on what should have been a 1 ½ HR job today. Much cursing, cut knuckles and lack of any decent instructions. Had to resort to photos on the Z1000 forum in the end. I hope Ivan's Air Induction Removal Kit was worth the effort on my Gen 4. Waiting for this weather to clean up before hopefully proving that the popping and general poor performance on decel, has been eliminated. If not, it's stage 2.....Ivan's FCE. Hopefully that's more accessible to fit

Hi guys . I went for a drive yesterday with my girlfriend. And as always she was complaining about something.

I have a question: the rear seat from SX will it fit in to the Zed ?

Or can I buy some kind of comfort seat that will not spoil the look of a bike

Or should I just ditch the ...... ;-)

Anyone wanting any of our embroidered merchandise, here's all the information. This is done direct through the company that makes it, so we make no profit from this. Great high quality products. Full guide on "files" page.

OK folks, myself and Andi have chipped in and had our pages logo digitised so we now have an outlet that will produce items we want with our logo on it. Like hoodies tshirts fleeces hats beanies etc...

If you want to order anything just follow the link and pick the items you want followed by size and colour and add an image from the gallery where our logo is stored in various colours to suit your particular bike.

Your first logo is free and extra logos obviously cost more sizes are true sizes as I have an xl and it is deffo an xl.

My front end also feels terrible but think thats down to the uneven wear on front tyre (which the dealers are going to replace). Also low speed fuelling is rubbish...bike is a standard 2014 model with only 2600 miles on the clock! Anyone else experience probs like this? Cheers

Ok guys and gals. As a request, I've made a map where you can add your location. This is so you can find other Z owners near to you, and maybe arrange rideouts. You don't need to tag your actual address, just nearby is fine. Only a rough guide. Please have your name as it appears on Facebook as your title. The password to add a location is "zedoc".
