Should anyone be considering buying some Armstrong wavy discs for their ZZR...........DON'T.

Apparently they're not up to the job and unable to cope with the weight and braking forces. Mine have worn below the minimum limit in 4500 miles and I'm not what could be considered a 'hard' rider, and don't use the bike on trackdays.

So, having thought long and hard, looked at other people's experiences, and then applied logic and rationale, I have come to the following conclusion.

    THEY MUST BE SHIT

(My 1999 Fireblade with 25,000 miles on the clock has the same discs it left the factory with)

    • Did you cure what caused the original discs to be knackered in the first place?

    • Hi Matthew, the original ones were warped.

    • I've never fancied wavy discs over normal but that's a proper can of worms to debate. Anyway, in 2012 I fitted EBC rotors and pads and 5 years, 22,000 miles and 3 pad sets later they currently measure 4.98mm thick for both, so there's still plenty of miles left in them.

    • Well, I certainly learnt my lesson. But thankfully have sourced a secondhand pair of EBC's

    • I've had got you Some new ones at cost if you'd have said Nigel ..

    • Thanks Gavin, I appreciate that but no worries.

    • Thanks for letting know

    • I've had these tarazon ones fitted as the original ones wrapped. Seem alright.
