Hi all...Yesterday I went for a ride & I noticed a new sound. It seemed to be coming from the belt area over 40 mph. I thought a nut & bolt were loose on the belt cover, but I found nothing loose. so now I am wondering if there's something with the belt itself. I raised the rear & ran it up to 50mph, but I heard nothing with it standing still. Only a squeak when I spun the rear tire by hand that was coming from the belt meshing with the front pully...any ideas?

  • I know there is a recall repair for the front drive sprocket on '04's could be the noise.

  • I only had 1 recall notice & that was some grease on something...might have been the sproket, need to go look it up

  • You all better check the the front pulley 130 ft lb's only grease with molly, every bike I service or buy and sell none of them are greased right or tighten to spec. grease the shaft and the pulley splines with molley ONLY

  • Does not matter what year or model either I have seen 08 09 not to spec's

  • Bare's custom V2K with Corbin seat and down tube pegs

  • Hey Bare, Tell me about those down tube pegs, please

  • Kury 1.35 in clamps get 3 in extentions and the pegs of your choice DoNOT put the flat washer between the clamp per instuctions get a lock washer behind the offset side remember they are right hand treads left side will come loose if you follow Kury's inst. Great highway pegs can break with your right heal ad down shift with your left heal also counter steer with your feet if you like.

  • perfect....

  • If you are over 6 foot get a Corbin Seat!

  • Bare and I have measured and set on all the seats! And owned them all too.

Just returned from a 1500 mi road trip on the bike. It ran great, after the new tires I invested in, it ran like a dream. One thing, the headlight/running light, pulled a hide and seek a couple of times. it was out, then on again. anyone had this problem, is it just the low beam getting ready to fail? The bright beam worked right away when I switched it over each time....?

OK...this may sound like a dumb question, but I have noticed that some members on this sight have replaced their back tire with a car tire. Are there any benefits to doing this?

  • How much does it cost to do that?

  • I paid $88. for the tire and I pulled the wheel off and took it to the local dealer and he mounted and balanced it for $40. It ought to be good for about 6 years with the mileage I ride yearly.

  • some dealers won't do it so call first!

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE OWNER OF RACETRACKS HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES Dear Sir It... — Kawasaki Fury 125

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE OWNER OF RACETRACKS HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES Dear Sir; It had reached to our knowledge that you had also banned Suzuki motorcycle owners to practice, had their track day, or even just try your racetrack, was this action means you are taking personally the actions being made by the Buncio family an...d the Suzuki Philippines with their call and search for the justice on the death of the late Maico Buncio.. First, because of the lapses done by your management you have gotten from Philippine Motorsports our MAICO BUNCIO, you have taken PHILIPPINES a future to be internationally known on the motorsports arena… Secondly, BANNING SUZUKI RACERS in your racetracks is another manifestation on how childish you consider things, JOHN LERY ENRIQUEZ is now internationally competing and banning him to practice in your track is again killing the motorsports industry in the Phils. You will then be guilty of taking another Philippine Pride. Banning all the Suzuki racers is also a manifestation how you wanted the local motor racing event to slowly die, racing enthusiasts cries out loud -be fair enough Mr. Racetrack owner…. Third, Banning all Suzuki motorcycles in your tracks is a childish act, you should grow up Mr. race track, we aren’t included to those whom charging you legally, so why include and generalize all Suzuki owners, but we are one unto their call that JUSTICE be SERVED to the BUNCIO family, we are one with their call TO A SAFER RACETRACK here in the PHILIPPINES.. With what you have done you are simply exemplifying how childish you are to face all the controversies, if you think you aren’t guilty with the death of MAICO BUNCIO then face the charges, present your evidences and Go on with your life and DO NOT TAKE PERSONAL GRUDGES to the people who are charging you because they are but, just dying to KNOW THE REAL CULPRIT AND JUST WANTED TO HAVE JUSTICE TO BE SERVED. Mr. Race track Owner, you have taken to the Philippines- Maico BUNCIO, please do not let and do not be guilty of taking also to Philippines a chance to discover another FUTURE INTERNATIONAL RACER….Do not be blinded by your childish acts and thinking, DO NOT BE GUILTY OF MAKING PHILIPPINE MOTORSPORTS DIE IN YOUR HANDS……. I appeal to all motorcycle enthusiasts & racing fanatics may you be Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha, motorstar, etc. owners, please let us all spread this letter and do not let PHILIPPINE MOTORSPORTS die just because a heartless, childish racetrack owner is powerful enough to ban racers and riders from SUZUKI Company. WE all know how MAICO BUNCIO died and had sacrificed his life we all just wanted to have JUSTICE to be SERVED. STOP THIS HARRASSMENT MR. RACE TRACK OWNER…… Appealing to you, Dondon Pante a.k.a. Karldrei Suzuki motorcycle owner (Please Spread this letter)

Having trouble starting the engine when I ve ridden it up into the mountains... — Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 VN2000 Rogue owners riders

Having trouble starting the engine when I've ridden it up into the mountains from 500 to 5500 elevation.

I have after-market pipes. Any ideas on a fix?

I can start it with a good push. Opening the gas tank does not help. Last time I went, it started via starter, but took a long time, and was after an hour with the bike off. On previous trips with 20 or less minutes sitting it would not start via starter.

  • aside from the belt noise you just have to learn to align you belt yourself because the dealer can't do it, and what must be a bad batch of fuel pumps on the early models. I love the bike and wouldnt trade it in on a road king.

  • Ted, 12 volt is 12 volt...a higher amp\ hr battery only means that you can crank on it longer...you can over heat a kill the starter too...it's possible that the charging system is weak and not putting out the current needed to build back the battery...if you have (or know someone that does have) a digital automotive meter that you can check the system with, it very simple to do....remove things to expose the battery and set the meter to test DC voltage....connect it to the battery (red-on positive post and black on negative post)...it should tell you what your battery has for power...normal is 11-13 volts....now turn on the switch to energize the bikes systems...there should be a small drop in battery voltage....then hit the starter button and watch the meter while doing it....should not drop below 8 volt.....let bike run and you should see the meter return to 12-13 volts....you don't have a bunch of LED lighting do you?....excessive LED's and the dreaded "ring of fire" will kill a charging system fast

  • No LEDs. I really think the battery is perfect, but I will test it as you've described. I have a meter.

  • Anyone put these on a carb'd 1500? Mine's a 2004.

  • No Ron, check CobraUSA.com You install a "jet kit" for the carbs. If you have Carbs you need to install a jet kit, if you have fuel injectors you install a fuel processor

Nature of the beast at 45K miles?

  • Math check..... 5000rpm / 60 sec = 83.3 engine revs per second. and because its a 4 stroke engine any one valve only opens every other revolution the valve opens less then 42 times a sec at 5000 rpm and our bikes at 80 mph in 5th gear don't spin but about half of that.

  • Doesn't change the fact valves open every other revolution. I didn't claim it opened every other stroke of the 4 strokes I was identified the engine as a 4 stroke and at 10k revs the valves cycle 83.3 times a second.

(10k / 60 sec) /2 since they open every other revaluation. It isn't hard.

  • And they fact there is valve overlap doesn't make them open at a faster rate its still 1 time every 2 revolutions
