    • argh guy!!!! what a pity!!! hope you and your moto are ok!!! i also see you re one of the lucky red black version owners!!!

    • Good old "target fixation". They taught us about that in superbike school. That hurt to see!. But, the riding there is really nice, it is so damn clear!!. Reminds me of the high desert and Arizona.

    • Thanks! It was fully "faired and bagged", but I wanted to do something different with it, so I started looking at seats, pipes and lights...out she popped!

I finally completed my braking tests between the motorcycle tire and the car tire on my V2k. Last year I tested rear brake only and both brakes from 40mph with the (worn) MC tire, and my best stops after multiple attempts were 97 feet and 59 feet respectively. With the car tire (General Altimax HP), I stopped in 80 feet and 50 feet!

    • went 2 up on the weekend Ronald and both of us thought it was a hell of an improvement the cornering is pretty good now I am getting used to it, it does however seem to wander a little bit with the camber in the road. going to take it through the mountains later this week and will let you know. But there is no regrets so far

    • it just keeps getting better.

    • Anyone want to trade a Mustang seat for this seat? It retails at $500, very custom looking and no need for a sissy bar, so when you are riding solo, you get a more sleek look. Call Todd @ 704-562-1634.

    • Looking good. How did you do it

    • Actually it was super simple. I bought a 1 oz. bottle of universal black touch up paint from Auto Zone. The tube has a ball point tip which makes it very easy.

    • Thanks I may have to try it.

    • that looks different to min, mine has a capital LT engraved under the classic

    • I didn't know that

    • @Clint, so are you working outside in the open air, or inside a nice, enclosed, mostly sound-proof cage?

Oh, and do workers on a road construction crew wear bright colors, or maybe they should be outfitted with obnoxious noise-making devices instead - since motorists could be able to HEAR them long before they see them? :D

I prefer not to put myself in positions where I would NEED my loud pipes to save my life, thanks. To me, that means not riding in blind spots, making sure I'm not hiding in traffic, ensuring I'm in a position to be SEEN by other motorists, doing what I can to BE more easily seen, and anticipating and planning for right-of-way violations.

I can do all that WITHOUT pissing off people with excessively loud exhaust. I don't find that relying on my exhaust to save my life is worth the negative image motorcyclists get from those that have obnoxiously loud pipes.

    • Frank You have NO CLUE!!! Bright colors don't mean a thing, go on the internet and see how many road workers are killed each year and we all wear class 3 bright color reflective gear, have you ever heard of complacency? 3 highway workers ran over in the last month, what were they wearing??? Bright color!! Dude the only times pipes are obnoxious is when you grab a had full of throttle and there is no such thing as a sound proof car!!! the only thing that I can say is you will be in more close call situations than I no matter what you wear and thats my opion and I'm pretty sure A LOT of people will agree , next time you ride through a work zone, see if you are noticed and notice what they wearing because apparently you do not take note! I also do all the things you do no blind spots, scanning etc, etc, something tells me your you just need to complain about something and you heard somebody with really loud pipes. We're not tryin to change your mind but let it go, to many different opinions and we're all still alive after our daily or weekend rides.

    • @Clint, So if bright colors don't mean a thing, why do highway crews continue to have to wear them?

Yeah, I know what you meant, that complacency (probably both for those on the crew and idiot drivers) kills. So are you really doing everything you can?

I actually don't mind loud pipes myself. I just choose other ways to be safe and not to irritate and annoy my neighbors and other people.

My nephew had borrowed a buddy's motorcycle with really loud pipes recently, and even at idle speeds he was afraid to ride it through our neighborhood at night because of how obnoxiously loud it was, and that was barely above idle.

If you're of a mindset that us riders need every edge we can get to stay safe on the streets, then why not do EVERYTHING you can do? Surely wearing bright gear doesn't hurt and has a good chance of helping, doesn't it?

    • It's really fun defying ppl's ideas. I had super-moto guys telling me "dude I could see daylight under your tire!"

    • For me, the corners feel the same but overall just require more steering input. I love my car tire.

    • yes steering imput is something you have to do alot more of, but once i get over that everything should be sweet. for the sake of $170 fitted so far it is one of the best things that i have done to it ,followed by the spring upgrade in the forks. I only found out about this car tyre business off the forums. People should take there blinkers off and take a chance. At the end of the day it is a modification that can be reversed with no damage.
