OK time has come to ditch the stock exhaust on my '05 K 2000. Anyone have any ideas? I've looked at the V & H and the Cobras. Thinking about 2 into 1, any comments?

  • Love the look of the black custom. Seeing these are shorter then the stock pipes, how much louder are the baffeled then the stock? How much louder are the w/o baffels then the baffeled? (will I be getting pulled over every mile) and I knwo these are not 2into1s but will the shorter exhaust show any additional power?

Does anyone have an educated guess how long tires on a Vulcan 2000 should last? Just had my oil changed and a safety check done to my bike and the shop is trying to push new tires on me.

  • I got 12k out of the stock tire and am now on 11k on the new avons rear still looks good but the front is cupping. I also ride it hard so I must be lucky or something!

  • I only got 4500 out of the rear Metzler Marathon, so after a lot of thorough research, I decided to try out a car tire on the rear - There's a lot of heavy cruiser owners that have tried it with no reported ill results, and I have to say it's working out great! After the initial break in (a few hundred miles) you can't even feel that it's a car tire anymore and I should get 3 to 4 times the mileage than a MC tire.

  • Run 42 psi front and back! 7500 rear, 10k front would be average.

guys pa help po.. kaka change oil ko lang po kasi, and sobrang vibrate niya castrol activ po ginamit ko ,pero before wala naman vibrate. di ko lang nakita kung anu ung nilagay noon, di ko kasi nakita ung nilagay. magpapalit po uli ako ng oil. anu po ba maganda sir?yung miniminimal nya yung vibrate meron bang ganun?hehe pero yung ganun sana para hinde ma vibrate.. please help guys

Word here in Japan is that Kawasaki is going to introduce a W800 this fall. I haven't been able to find out anything else about it other than the speculation that it may be exported to U.S. & Europe as well. Guess we'll have to wait to see if this is anything other than rumor

Any one have a modified swing arm from Texas Metrics, or done their modification to lower back end 4"???

  • Nope, not Texas Metrics, but I can tell ya after the experience I had this wekend, be carefull how low you go. This weekend, I BUSTED my shock. When your using a lowering kit vs. buying the proper/shorter shock, you are using brackets to reposition the "U" bracket on the shock higher, inturn, bringing the original mounting area lower & lowering the rest of the ass end. Mine lasted about a year. This weekend I hit a pretty good pothole. When the swing arm rebounded, it smacked into the bottom of the shock. Lost all the hydrolic fluid and there is now some play/movement between the U bracket & the pre-load adjuster (that wasn't there before). She's off the road for a bit, needless to say. I'll be back on the road sooner rather than later thanks to an AWESOME bro I met here on this board. The cautionary tale here is, when you modify your suspension in this matter, you take the risk of putting yer bike outta commession for a little bit (if your lucky) or taking yerself outta commession for alot longer than that. Just my 2 cents.

After a little over a year and about 4500 miles, the rear tire on my '05 VN2000 Limited was wore out. After some extensive research, I decided to go to "The Darkside" and mounted a General Altimax 205/60r16 car tire. After about 1000 miles on it in the last month, I'm glad I did it! Anyone else here mounted a car tire on their Vulcan 2000? How do you like it?

  • How many burn outs does it take to wear a tire out in 4500 miles? lol

  • Actually, I didn't do ANY burnouts, I'm just very... how should I put it, - GENEROUS with the throttle? ;) :P

  • I'm in the same boat. 5600 miles and I am looking for a new rear also. I am going to try a Metzler.

  • Well John, I'd recommend checking into a car tire. For heavy cruisers like ours, it's an ideal balance of performance and longevity. here's some information from a guy that's ridden over 750,000 miles on motorcycles, and I think he's put about a third of that with a car tire on his Valkyrie:
