Rear shock opinion mine seems to have only about an inch of travel Bike barely... — The Kawasaki ZZR1100 Appreciation Society

Rear shock opinion - mine seems to have only about an inch of travel! Bike barely moves when you sit on it and when you take weight off it moves back up slowly. Bangs and crashes over bumps.....

Im wondering whether I should have the standard shock rebuilt or just stump up for a Hagon or similar. Obviously I'll replace all the linkage bearings etc while it's in bits....

%d comments
  • Check the rebound it should rise slowly and not bounce.

  • Mine works fine too 1994D with 70000 and my weight with 140kg

  • I have Hagon progressive front and a shortened Hagon rear .. they rebuilt my old Hagon shock to brand new .. customer service was second to none

Thought I'd do a quick post as I just bought a zzr yesterday. Although this zzr to me means alot more to me then any other previous bikes I've owned as it belonged to my late best friend. I found it posting on another zzr page and the owner got in touch with me. (Steve Mullen who is a trusted seller by the way) So not sure what I'm doing with the bike yet. Gonna use it as my work commuter until my fz6 is fully built but tempted to build it into a drag bike and turbo it in the future. I will keep you updated. If anyone wants any paint work doing around Yorkshire let me know as my friend paints race bikes etc. He's painted my fz6 below.

A little help comparing my bike to yours please?

I own a 2004 z750 and I'm wondering if my hand controls for each side are from different models?

My right hand controls have the Allen key bolts recessed into the housing where my left hand controls aren't recessed.

Are yours the same?

%d comments
  • Ah sweet thank you Willem, that confirms its standard. Looks weird when you compare them aye!

  • Did you paint your rims? Standard they are black i think. And a tailtidy would be in place ;-)

  • I've only recently bought the bike so can't say for his history, they are unpainted. Yes definitely needs a tail tidy, and a belly pan!

This is the end for my z750!! They cut my road in a central road! After my attempt to avoid the collision i abandon the bike and the bike got hit on the car which the driver cut my way and the bike (with full tank) got fire!!

Police, ambulance and firelighters came to the scene and they took me to the hospital and the only think i had it was my right knee (not broken) and right hand scratches!! This is my goodbye from bikes!! It was pleasure but here... They dont care about the bikes!! Take care all and please ware your gear and drive safe!!

  • Shit man. Glad that you're OK! And sad about the bike but a bike can be replaced, hope he has a good insurance and you'll get a new zett soon!

  • Hard to see this. The most important is that you are OK. Recently my wife and I went for a ride. She was driving our Z and I borrowed friends bike just for this one ride. My wife was in front of me and I was behind...we were constantly in communication through installed communicators in our helmets and I just warned her to slow down a bit since I knew that the drivers don't respect STOP sign here and that's excatly what happened. Guy did not stop on STOP sign and went in front of her. She moved left thinking that he will perhaps stop but he didn't. When she saw that impact is innevitable she hit the brake hard. She was lucky this time since she hit him in the back with just side of the bike hitting most with the steering and crash pad distance which saved her left leg. The worst thing is that guy did not stop he just left. When I saw that she is OK I chased the guy. Luckily for the insurance and cops I had everything recorded with my GoPro

    https://youtu.be/4rPixox2g8Q

Take care of yourself guys esspecially of others reckless drivers

  • Glad your wife is ok, that was scary

Here comes a much faster 'D'

%d comments
  • Funniest thing is relating a D to. Suzuki lmao , I can see all the other D riders building a wicker man right now pmsl

  • C's, D's.....;-) It's all great banter, ALL tongue in cheek as (most) of us know but gives great mileage when you get the 'bite' and somebody buys this stuff as real. As for incredible speeds over the TT course, you can achieve those over the mountain section only (unless you've blagged it onto a practise lap with the boys). I was overtaken this year on my maiden 'flight' making my 130 look like I was stopped but they were all cutting edge road rockets. I had running issues I wasn't even aware of but they are long gone now and I wish I was back there!! Must admit though, would like to be hearing more about journeys, trips we could all try out etc. There is a handful though of the UK and Ireland members that do tell us great travel and riding stories. These are fabulous and amazing bikes and need to be ridden.... for mile after mile :-)
