netboard

I'm having an issue with my clutch. So I got my push rod parts in and I got two nuts for my input shaft to hold in the clutch basket. But neither (one brand new from rmatv, one with a used parts kit) want to thread onto the input shaft. As if they are too small. What am I missing here??

Well not sure what to do I picked up 97 kx 125 come to find out its a 97... — Kawasaki KX 125

Well not sure what to do... I picked up 97 kx 125... come to find out its a 97 chassis with a 98 engine... as most of you probably know there are many differences between the two years... I was really hoping to have a legit 97 or 98 kx125 like I had back in my younger days... not sure if I should just track down a 98 frame or sell it all and go get a legit one... any thoughts? Or does anyone know if all I would need is a 98 frame/sub/ airbox?... and the rest bolt up to it?

Need everyone's opinion. Didn't want to do this but don't really have a choice. Got orders overseas and am going to have to get rid of the bike. Don't want it stuck in storage deteriorating for 3 years. Never had plans to sell, but now I have to so I need everyone's honest skills in determining what I should list it for. New top end, have only been starting it and letting it warm up and taking it down the culdesac to break in the new piston and rings. Runs really well, bogs a little when I hit it in first but comes out of it after I shift into second, that's when it seems to scream, but like I said, just in a culdesac so it doesn't get past 2nd. Put some graphics on it and numbers and spoke wraps. She's clean, very clean. No leaks. Just an older model KX 125-E1. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

Finally think I may have fixed her. I initially had to do a piston and rings since there was no compression when I got it. Then had water/coolant in the oil. So I changed out the water pump seal. Then I get weeping from the head and base gasket and watery oil in the exhaust so I did new gaskets (again) on the head and cylinder base. No leaks, no water in the oil, no weeping at the base or the head and no oily water at the exhaust port. She seems to be running well. Only issue now is the white smoke. I've only started her a couple times since the new top end so I'm trying to break her in right. Hopefully the white smoke will begin to reduce and get closer to normal. I know they smoke, just not constantly. What do y'all think??

Due to a change in the land we use for the bikes I'm forced to sell my kx125 it's a 1998 model and is currently in the process of being rebuilt from the ground up. The engine has just had a rebuild with less than 2 hours on it. I started buying new parts for the bike so these are also for sale and can sell separate or as part of a deal with the bike. The bike is good condition and runs well with no issues apart from poor low end due to dent and hole in expansion chamber (new pro circuit platinum one also for sale or as part of deal) bike has oil changed very frequently and like I said was starting a full ground up rebuild when I had the issue with the land. All the plugs are straight forward im just wondering where the electrical box is supposed to mount (usually ontop of the airbox from what I have seen in the past?) aswell as the earth wires etc. If anyone could explain or show me some photo's that would be great, Thanks!

So we have had to do work on our 1998 KX125 earlier than planned, the piston ring decided to make its presence felt on its last outing. Thankfully the barrel is still in good condition and so far no other damage detected, we still need to check the bottom end so watch this space. Today we have put on some new to us Ohlins forks we bought from a bike being broken by a friend as well as remove the engine and clean the top end. We will be replacing the piston, gaskets, the clutch basket and the chain as well as putting on a new to us Ohlins rear shocky. We've literally just finished work on my daughters quad for xmas think it'll be a very mechanical run up to Xmas at this rate, as we have a Malaguti Ronchino to rebuild as well as the trike hehe.

If you're out of the country, i just need to know what country and I can get you a quote. Just wanted to reach out and let everyone know what we do. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me on facebook, email sales@acracing.com, or call me at 951-245-4040. Any feedback anyone has to improve our subframes, please let me know. Alright, help a brother out

                                          99 kx125

Just got cylinder back from plating, installed new wiseco piston and gasket set. I bought the bike blown up so I have no idea how it ran before I got it.

Got the bike started and it revved like I was holding the throttle wide open.

Shut it down, checked the idle screw...they had it all the way in. Uns reed the idle screw almost all the way out and started it. Same thing, revved like crazy

Checked the air screw, it was 4 turns out. Set the air scree to 1 1/2 turns out and started it. Same thing. Revved like crazy

Pulled the carb and checked all the jets, everything is clean.

Finally got it to idle by turning the air screw all the way in until it stopped and leaving it there. Most I could turn it out before it started to Rev extremely high was 1/4 turn out.

                                          Ideas?

So I've been pretty jealous of the european dudes that have rad supermoto style set ups that are plate-able. Those bikes look crazy fun. Ive been looking for a more legit solution that might allow me to power all the accoutrama to make a bike street legal.

HPI makes aftermarket electrical components. Im familar with using them on older bikes that have traditional, often heavy points set ups.

They do offer a stator with light coil and its all ready to be wired up for KX125 though....

Has anyone ever tried a HPI set up or something comparable? Im thinking about trying one out, but wanted to float it out there to maybe catch some wisdom before I commit.

Tear down on 2004 KX125. Im about mid way thru finishing a rebuild on my 04 KX125. Its my first rebuild so i know ive made some rookie mistkes, like painting the swingarm...its looks cool but i doubt it will hold up to many rides so im prob gonna strip that back down and just buff out the swing arm. All in all im about 800 into it, new bars, plastics, boyeson clutch and ignition covers, bolt kits, grips, brake pads, coolant hoses, radiators, seat cover, chain, both sprokets, levers, and new starcross on both..any pointers on anything yall think should also be replaced due to factory weakness that would be awesome!

Just waiting on clutch and ignition covers, new radiators, hoses, seat cover, graphics, pipe and silencer. I don't mind the holidays, but they sure do mess up shipping!

Update to the 2005 KX125 build. I took the frame to my local Line X shop and had it done in spray on bed liner. Never have I done a frame in Line X, but it seems to be hard as a rock and the frame only gained less than a half pound. The suspension was sent out to get freshened up with new fork seals, oil, springs, etc. Replaced the front and rear wheel bearings and seals. Replaced all swing arm bearings and seals. Cleaned, greased and polished everything during install. The engine is currently being rebuilt from the crankshaft up. I installed some of the new plastics and the rest is hanging ready to install. More updates to come.

Maintenance and restoration on the cheap. Today I got tired of surfing Ebay for a bike stand. So I went to Google. I found this stand in silver at Harbor Freight tools for $29.99. So I went to my local Harbor Freight and bought it. Thing is, it's rated for 1000#. Very quality built. I paid double on Ebay for 600# stands. I then stopped by Advanced Auto Parts to hopefully find green paint close to Kawasaki green. The cap color was a bit sketchy, so I tried it on a piece of white paper first. It's so close to Kawasaki green it's worth the $6.00. For you guys that can't afford either powder coat or expensive frame paint, this may be your answer. It's made for high temps and has ceramic in it, so I suspect it's hard when cured. Just an FYI guys, form your own opinions. I restore a lot of bike and sometimes try stuff and if it seems to work, I like to pass it on to other riders.

The motor I was going to rebuild it again. Scored the original cylinder wall after it was rebuilt. Looking to find rideable bike or an easy fixer-upper. The bottom end of the bike has brand new bearings and tight. The cylinder head you can get away with. I just don't have that kind of money to put in the bike. I have some cash but I'm on a budget. Willing to drive to check out my next possible bike. Bikes all there but at this point it's in pieces and the engine parts are in sealed boxes to keep the dust out. Needs a front fender, also has the "Evo" silencer pipe. The frames been painted to a dark purple, blue plastics with the original green tank, original from Japan radiators, none of them leak.

I have a 1997 Kawasaki kx125 that I am looking to sell. It needs new bottom end bearings in it (cheap fix) I have put many hours into this bike and lots of new parts. Here is the list of new parts:

                                                                    -rebuilt shocks front and rear

-new top end only break in time on it

                                                                    -new body work and stickers

-new fmf short exhaust new with piston and top end rebuild

-all new top end gaskets new with piston and top end rebuild

-all new electrical system coil, flywheel, control box

-new rear tire very low time on it

The bike has very low time on it for 97 and is in very good condition. The only thing it needs is for the bottom end crank bearings to be replaced, very simple and not to expensive. Very solid bike and good project! Selling because it's time for something new to work on. Message me if your interested. Located in Wisconsin. Thanks William!

It seems to me like there is something getting to hot and then failing, when it's cold it runs beautiful...I'm doing a carby clean tomorrow to see if that makes any difference... Any ideas??
