  • See the charging voltage...should be above 14.4 max 14.8 v . If the voltage is ok, test your battery for a faulty element. Before all this see if the leads are screwed well in. If you dont have a tester , first charge your baterry at full capacity, measured and try to start the bike. If the starting fails see the voltage. If the voltage is below 11v after the atempt , you need a new battery. I hope this helps.

  • New battery reads 11v after start up jumps to 14.1v but I have to crack throttle to crank

  • In this case the charging is the problem. You get 14.1 only when you twist the throtle?

  • At idle what is the voltage?

  • No it's 11v when I cycle key but I have to crack throttle for it to turn ova once running then I get 14.1v

  • Idle voltage 14v

  • So turn the bike off, use a voltmeter and keep it on the batt for a while. If the readings go down the scale.....from 12.8 or 13.2 ( witch is normal after stoping the bike) goes to 12.1 or below in the next 10 -15 max 30 min ...then you have to see what is draining your battery! For that you will need a competent electrician.

  • Thx

  • You are welcome;)

  • always check the post and the Lead for corrosion especially on the negative side. my 2012 battery did it, I cleaned it and it was perfect
