I finally started restoring my 84 Red kdx200 that i picked up a month ago

I finally started restoring my 84 Red kdx200 that i picked up a month ago. So far i can tell i have a really solid bike mechanically only needing minor work. I will be fully refinishing the stock red oem plastics and tank and saving them. Dc plastics will be going on the bike in red. Seat has been recovered oem so far. The rear shock was totally blown and is being fully rebuilt unless someone can recommend a replacement shock that has comp/rebound adjustments, i figured i can measure the oem length ect and valve it accordingly and source a shock from a different newer bike (any suggestions) i am looking for a few parts i have checked all the normal sources with no luck! I am in need of:

Air Box

Fork boots

Headlight and shroud (in red, lol

  • I miss my red one everyday

  • What are dc plastics do you have a link.....I want to try keep my bike as original as possible thanks

You have to call them. They make the 84/85 kdx200 fenders in red. They arent oem show perfect. But are great for a bike that gets ridden!

  • Only the green plastics are listed on their site, but call them and they will send you a red set.

  • Started stripping the tank tonight, using cem products uhm bumper stripper (plastic safe). It makes short work of the nasty paint job. Thankfully the tank isnt in all that bad of shape. Nothing wet sanding wont take care of. Spent about 300$ on parts today, new tail light, new headlight, found a nos red rear fender, new throttle cable, new seat cover, all new cables, perches and levers. Stay tuned!

  • Made a little more progress, finally getting the color back on the top half.
