Evening folks. Not zzr but close, I'm after a 90s gpz1100 for a special build. Anyone know of anything? I only need engine with carbs, gearbox, and electrics. Thanks in advance

    • Keep it low, long and keep the weight down.

    • This is it so far

    • Dragstrip only or road legal.

    • Road legal...to the limits though

    • Try and lower it?

    • Do the starter chain mod

    • Did you run an 11 on the zzr?

    • It's already lower than the standard zrx without any weight in it and about 4 inches longer. Forks are quite a bit shorter than stock and longer swing arm

    • Will do

    • How much suspension movement is there?

    • It saves an exploding clutch

    • Enough to strap down the front a bit. The rear will be fully adjustable

    • Yes

    • We had a cottage industry producing these back in the day, ZRX11'S, ZZR internals, ZX9R B front end, 4-1 and Eddie Lawson paint, couldn't build them fast enough

    • That's with restricted carb tops. The only mod is the exhaust and let the tyres down a bit

    • Need to minimise suspension movement fir the strip. Not lock up, but close.

    • How low? 11:9 or 11:1

    • Kind of what im going for. Zrx engines are loads of money now though so looking for the gpz1100. 6 speed box too

    • Yep, I have had a few zrx1100s. Still have one now. Thanks

    • 11.9

    • Been there done that.

    • Good start. What terminals?

    • With hindsight we built some crap too, but it kept us in Street fighters mag on a regular basis

    • I killed my old one with the knackered fuel tap trick

    • Do you get any other bikes in or just zzr's

    • James Rowland, what's that? ⬆️

    • I retired 10 years ago, I just dick around now with bikes I like, which can be anything, not just ZZR's

    • My best was 120.something. I'm working away at the moment so can't check

    • Cool, well if a gpz1100 crops up on your radar let me know please

    • Bit down on power then? I managed 11:38 at 122 on a SV1000

    • Zrx1100s have a vacuum fuel tap. The seal goes which allows the fuel to drain into the carbs. I had a sticky float which meant the petrol ended up in the sump and hydrolocked it. I used the bike every day. Fine in the morning, filled it up on the way to work and at the end of the day I killed it trying to start it...

    • Carb tops can't help and I haven't done anything like as many runs as you

    • Need to have a practice session on the 1200. See how you launch. Do you rev it out at max revs as you go over the finish line?

    • I was waiting too long to change up I think. When the gear levels out is too late right, I got better but still need to do a lot more. To begin with I was going through in third flat out and after a few runs got more aggressive on the throttle and was hitting fourth about three quarters down and accelerating through the finish line. It's me that needs to improve. The bike should hit high tens I reckon

    • Oh dear...

The early Honda CBXs used to do that.

    • What these...

    • Probably.

    • No, the six.

    • Ok, haven't had much experience with them yet, a mate of mine is restoring one at the moment though. I'll pass it on

    • Honda modified them with a vacuum cutoff valve. This was before vacuum taps.

    • Here's one we built mid 90's, pre ZRX era

    • Very cool

    • Look what I got

    • I'd considered one of those!!

    • So would I, but not in that colour...

    • Nice

    • Horrible isn't it. I'm only using the engine and loom so it's ok
