Any advise on removing a seized caliper piston from the caliper. The caliper(rear) has been split got one piston out the other won't budge. Haynes manual said use compressed air, not a thing. Any suggestions appreciated.

  • To be fair I used them on my TL1000 tokicos.

    There you go geeza!

  • Putting the caliper back together isn't an option the seals on the other half are knackered and fell out when the other piston came out.

  • Set it on fire. Give it a pull. Job done.

  • Tool I made from stainless in the middle, for cleaning ZXR dust and fluid seal grooves. David David Betts I'd say you need to stick the other piston back in with a fluid seal, it's the only way really. Some of the calipers you can wind an (M10x1.0) bolt in to push the piston out if it's a rear caliper AND it's the outer piston

  • I'm teaching no one to suck eggs here David Betts, but are you sure it wasn't the dust seal that disintegrated? I've never seen a seal THAT bad, and all my machines are old!

  • Air

  • The seal was completely split when it came out.

  • Wow, those brakes must have been whipped!

  • 9 squids for a set of seals, not the end of the world!

  • Grease gun connected to bleed nipple then pump away
